by BDB (Big Dave Bowen)

Spirits were at an all time high with the return of ‘ great one’ BDB! The team rejoiced at his arrival with the first team captain ‘The BigDog Bellars’ or was it heckling for being late? Who knows my memory is foggy.
So the Mexican walked out for the toss and came back victorious! SNCC to bat first.

The inform batter Lewis ‘the tank’ walked out fresh from his honeymoon celebration (well stretched out). His batting partner the man who has the turning circle of a London bus! Chucky ‘the fridge!’
It started slow for the boys (very slow) with some beautiful forward defensive shots (mainly by Chucky). All of a sudden out of nowhere the ‘fridge’ got a boundary and Wigs woke up from being bored to death as square leg umpire.

Soon the runs started to come as the lads started the gun show smashing boundaries left right and centre until the first wicket fell (bowled) Chucky for 47. The disappointment however hit his face as he walked off, he was under the impression he had hit 50+. An over earlier, poor judgment from the first team skipper and vice had occurred, clapping him as a joke whilst he was only on 45.... support from team mates is just not a Sunday thing it would seem.

The ‘Superior’ R.Wigley then walked out to bat eclipsing his brother with ease. Shortly followed to the fall of the the tank Mr Lewis 83 (bowled). Up stepped the man who likes to get singles to steal the strike! ‘The BigDog’ JB....... smashed and caught for 12 ??. Stepping out next was the ‘inferior’ Chris Wigley he was to end up having four batting partners. Superior Wigley, The Mexican, The Toothless Wonder (Mark) and The Great One BDB.

With ‘inferior’ Wigs entering the fray ‘Superior’ Wigley soon fell on 62 (bowled). Stepped up El capitano gringo. Could he improve on his 33 runs from the day before? ... 1 run... out enough said. Could the toothless wonder Mark do anything? Nope duck ?. The VC then herd the fans calling for him!! “David David David!” followed by maybe a “hurry up and get ready you’re in.” Who knows, but it was muffled from inside the changing room.

After C.Wigley and his comedy act, trying to force BDB to run two’s, he went for yet another big 6 and this time falling on his sword being clean bowled on 51. If anyone is counting that is 11 less than his brother. After falling on the second to last ball of the innings, the magician Merril Mathias stepped up hitting a single run to end the innings. BDB 10no. “NOT OUT” you read that correctly.
Sncc 277 for 7

Let the fielding begin...

After not batting Kyle (with his poor injured brother sitting on the sideline) and ‘where is my vape’ Gibbens stepped up to open the bowling. Both being very tidy and getting the wickets they deserved! Gibbo bowling and Kyle getting a crisp LBW.... soon to be one of many I wonder ?.

The great one BDB and Merril took over. Merril bowled beautifully giving nothing away and with the help of ‘Inferior Wigley’ getting a catch. All rejoiced. BDB on the other hand spent his first over getting slapped about (a no-ball and a wide included). He brought it back however with a tidy second over and claiming wicket. A beautiful (shit) ball down leg side bamboozled the batsman! Somehow trickling down his leg onto his wicket... everyone celebrated, apart from Lewis and JB who looked mesmerised in the outfield with how ‘The great one’ had done that.

‘Inferior’ Wigley and the ‘Mexican’ then wanted a piece of the action. Billy ‘I appeal every time it hits the batsman’s pads’ Saunders got smacked about a bit, but then you guessed it delivered a peach of a ball for an LBW!! Who would have guessed? C.Wigley ‘inferior’ trying to prove he is the better brother started to pile on the pressure! Two wickets then fell. First a swing and a miss from the batsman and with some quick reaction from the ‘toothless keeper’ Mark a clean stumping. The second wicket an edge to ‘The BigDog Bellars’ in slips! What a majestic catch it was, getting down low to gobble it up and run away doing the superman... followed by the floss ? (yes it was bad).

Kyle ‘my brothers still injured’ Campbell and Micheal ‘still can’t find my vape’ Gibbens came back to finish what they had started. It was however the younger of the two to produce a magical spell! Kyle claiming 3 LBWs! Leaving Billy ‘The Mexican’ celebrating and obviously shouting how his LBW claims were not given.

Reigate Priory all out for 127 from 28 overs.

Kyle ‘my brother can now play next weekend’ Campbell claimed Man of the match.

‘The great one’ BDB claimed helmet of the week. Puzzling as he actually played quite well. Rigged vote? Possibly.
