Saturday 20th April

The opening day of the new SNCC nets is nearly upon us. This Saturday (20th April), the Jack v Jim or 1s v 2s game is scheduled to take place at 1pm. At some point shortly before tea time, Jan is due to arrive and so we would like to invite him to cut the ribbon and formerly open the new nets for club use during the tea interval.

Then, for those playing in the match and anyone else in attendance, we are planning on asking Jan to put on his cricketing attire and take to the virgin batting crease where the rest of us will form an orderly queue, each waiting to bowl our first ever deliveries in the new nets at Jan. Given his generosity, perhaps the quicker bowlers among us might like to refrain from trying to bounce his head off?!? We might need a slightly longer tea break than usual but this is surely worth it.

Then the resumption of the cricket will resume, the bar will be open and hopefully with plenty of SNCC people in attendance, it should make for a fun and memorable occasion. I look forward to seeing you all there. So many people contributed to this project and I hope they are there to witness its first ever use.
