SNCC's U14 team completed their final league fixture on Thursday 20th July, contesting 2nd place with a strong Wallington side. Off the back of three successive wins, the team are targetting a 2nd place finish to cap another season of improvements.
Despite early exits against Tier 2 sides in the Cup and Plate (the latter a strong performance in the field to restrict Horley to 88/8 off their 100 balls) the team has given good performances in all our league fixtures. The highlight so far though was a 'friendly' win over Capel with outstanding team performances against a good side. This shows how far we have come, as wins in that fixture have always been difficult to find!
Recently the usual strong base in the field and with ball has been enhanced in recent weeks with improved batting partnerships and retirements galore. Against Wallington this was again the case. The reverse fixture had been another close game, with the team feeling that one got away. Scoring 116/9 was enough to put pressure on Wallington who fell to 101/8 at one point. However 2 retirees returned to see the game home with 4 balls to spare - a cracking spirit across the pitch.

That leaves the team with 5 wins and 5 losses in the league, our best return and probably below what we deserved. So we go into next season with confidence, boosted by a number of the squad making their debuts in the adults 3rd and 4th XI's this season - and finding runs and wickets good pickings.
