A shaky start to this fixture when, upon arrival, the wicket was being watered in preparation for several important fixtures this week. Thankfully, SNCC's ever willing head groundsman and 1st XI captain happened to be at the ground and quickly prepared a good deck for this U11s match.

After the toss, captain Billy delivered the news that we were fielding first. A glorious evening with parental support from both sides very much evident, a cracking game was about to unfold.

Lucas and Harriet got things going for SNCC and the pair, over the course of their 6 overs shared 4 wickets between them, 3 going to Lucas who, with 10 runs against his name, actually went for a net -5 from his 3 overs. Outstanding stuff.

The remaining bowlers all kept things pretty tight. Wickets were among almost everyone and Billy bagged a maiden with a great first over from his spell. Excellent field from all too meant that at the turn, Tadworth had set a very obtainable 246.

Onto the batting then. Jacob and Edan were the 1st SNCC pairing. Jacob scored steadily notching up a couple of runs. Edan supported well but against an excellent Tadworth bowling display, was unlucky to lose a couple of wickets.

In came Charlie and Joshua. Charlie batted well for 4 runs and Joshua was solid, never really looking in any trouble against continued high quality bowling.

Next was Billy and Ben. Between, they creamed several boundaries. Billy notched up 17 runs and was well supported by Ben adding another 4. At the end of this pair, with the help of extras, SNCC were only 4 or 5 runs behind with the final pairing coming to crease. All looking good then for a first win of the season.

Lucas and Henry came to crease to finish the innings off. Henry smashed an early 4 bringing the scores level. The pair then ran a bye putting SNCC ahead to some loud cheering from the usual gathering of tipsy SNCC Mums ;). Tadworth then brought back their opening bowlers, the left armer in particular was outstanding. Two quick wickets turned the game back in favour of the Tadworth U11s and alas, despite Henry's and Lucas' best efforts, we came up just short.

Great game though played in a good spirit which could have gone either way. Well done boys, girls and parents.
